Position Summary Information

Job Description

The position of Graphic Designer requires a combined skill set of creative direction, design management, integrated communications and brand development.

The Graphic Designer will work collaboratively in the development of marketing and communications to create print and electronic media for various projects under the direction of the Director for University Marketing. Projects include, but are not limited to: publications, integrated digital advertising, brochures, posters, signage, visual identity and branding.

The Graphic Designer should be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

The Graphic Designer should have the ability to take direction from written or spoken ideas and develop them into effective design and communication solutions.

The Graphic Designer will be a member of a high-energy creative team that works proactively with other teams across the university to foster a collaborative environment and ensure a high-quality end product.

Responsibilities

Other duties and requirements of this position are:

  • Staying current with market trends as they affect design and communications.
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience in art direction of photography and illustration.
  • Work well within a team, and also independently with minimal supervision when necessary.
  • Manage production processes through external vendors; prepare bid specifications and deal directly with printers to see projects through to completion.
Required Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design/Applied Media Arts. 3-5 years experience as a Graphic Designer in the field of Advertising, Marketing and/or Design in a public or private setting. Experience in Higher Education a plus. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software, including, but not limited to: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Strong design skills and creativity to design visually-appealing, effective communications is a must. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
